Persons with hyperthyroid disease should consult with their healthcare provider before taking colostrum. Although there is no proven problem in taking colostrum with these disorders, their has been one case report in the medical literature of worsening hyperthyroidism in one patient taking supplement colostrum.
Colostrum's growth factors may also cause some initial pain in areas of old wounds or injuries as they heal. If this becomes uncomfortable, consider reducing the dosage for a few days, then gradually increasing your intake slowly until you reach optimum levels. Also, you should consult your doctor before taking colostrum, especially if you are taking medications, pregnant or nursing.
